Prevalence of Diabetes and Obstetrical outcomes among mothers residing in Washington Heights, NY

The project used EMR data to determine the prevalence of pregestational and gestational diabetes among mothers living in Washington Heights and the obstetrical and patient demographics, and birth outcomes of each pregnancy.

Provider discussion of mammogram as a choice and recent mammography screening by age group: Results from the Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS); 2011-2014

 

This project assessed the association between women discussing with their provider on mammography screening and mammography screening frequency. Women who had a conversation with their provider were less likely to have a recent mammogram than women who did not discuss with their provider.

Healthy Betances

Led by Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and in partnership with community-based organizations, this project conducted qualitative and quantitative research to assess perceptions of housing quality and self-reported health among Black and Hispanic/Latinx residents of an affordable housing complex in the South Bronx.

Food Justice NYC

This project used R and Shiny to code a website that used data from the Community Health Survey to examine the relationship between food insecurity and physical/mental health-related outcomes in NYC. This website also provided an interactive display of resources that could help to address food insecurity. View the Website Here

Evaluation of the Mentor Mothers Program in Abidjan, CI

An internal assessment was conducted at six sites of the Mentor Mothers program to identify the clients enrolled, describe the services provided in support of HIV positive women and their children, and evaluate routine program indicators.
